Hey, this is Jim from Arrrggghhh Ink LLC. Please pardon the website for the barebones look.
Plain and simple, I ditched my former hosting service, Fat Cow. I’ve been a customer with them for about 18 years now. Things got shady. I started getting secretly charged for services I didn’t sign up for, their hosting package kept skyrocketing, and service got worse.
I later found out that FatCow was purchased by Bluehost, to simply merge customers into their service. (This happens in America all the time, how corporations are allowed to change ownership while keeping that change hush-hush to clients.) So I finally had enough and left.
That’s when I found out that my former hosting service doesn’t allow transferring your website to another host. It’s almost like holding your website design hostage—“want to keep your current website running? Extend your service with us!”
It took me weeks to tweak my old website the way I wanted, so this is very frustrating. It should NOT be allowed; they DON’T own my work, they ONLY give the website a space on their server. (But again, this is modern America, where corporations know they are doing wrong for financial gain—what are people really going to do about it?)
That brings us to now. My website needs to be fully redesigned and on a new system I’m going to have to learn, WordPress. I’ve heard good and bad things about WordPress. I just hope it isn’t limited in design control.
So, it’ll be a while for me to find the time to redo my website and other web-related pages. Time will tell.
Take care and thanks for checking up on me,
Jim
